Here is an outtake from ‘The Tinkerer’. 

I’d sworn I was done with the album for a while now, but as I listened to the album, there was something that was just…off…to me. This song is that ‘something’. I like it, but it just didn’t fit within the theme/subtext of ‘The Tinkerer’. 

It’s like I was jumping ahead to ‘5ive On The Black Hand Side’, which was the next thing I worked on and released. (in fact, if you go from ‘Trouble Walkin’ to ‘Trouble Again’ which starts ‘5ive…’ , you’ll see what I mean. Both those are built on stuff from the ‘Trouble Man’ soundtrack by Marvin Gaye….)

As you’ll have a chance to hear next month, I tried to make ‘The Tinkerer’ as cohesive an album as possible. I got this ill theme running through it, right…? ‘Trouble Walkin’ while cool to me, just did…not…fit. It was like I had left an ending floating out in space somewhere, waiting to be told at a later date. I had to fix it before I felt like I was done. 

I got back into my zone last week, got into The Iron Man Monster Factory and worked up two songs that I thought would round the album out a lot better. Once that was done, I couldn’t find a reason to keep ‘Trouble Walkin’ in the sequence. I wrote two to replace it, so it had to miss the cut.

Anyway, I wanted to go ahead and let y’all get at it. Sheesh, up until about a week ago, I thought it was gonna finish my first self-produced album. I’m really glad I rethought that joint though. I’m flipping off the new songs and how all they work.
